THC is the most well-known and researched cannabinoid because of its psychoactive properties. However, it wouldn’t exist without its precursor THCA. Non-psychoactive tetrahydrocannabinolic acid is one of the most abundant therapeutic compounds produced by raw cannabis plants. It is found in both raw and dried cannabis. THCA gradually becomes THC as the plant dries. This conversion is accelerated by heat, which is known as decarboxylation.
What are the effects?
Although there isn’t enough research to determine if THCA can be used for what purposes and in what dosages, preliminary research and evidence suggest that THCA could play a key role as cannabis medicine develops. These are just a few of the benefits that studies have begun to reveal:
- Anti-inflammatory properties to treat arthritis lupus
- Neuroprotective properties to treat neurodegenerative disorders
- Anti-emetic properties to treat nausea and appetite loss
- Anti-proliferative properties observed in studies of prostate carcinoma
How to take THCa?
Tinctures are the first method people use THCA.
Raw cannabis is another option, and it is a highly-appreciated superfood. Are we likely to see raw cannabis leaves in our grocery stores any time soon? Although it’s unlikely, they should be available alongside organic wheatgrass and parsley.
There are so many health benefits to medical cannabis, it is easy to see why many patients choose to include raw cannabis in their treatment plans.
Some brands of full-extracted cannabis oil can be kept raw. However, most patients consume their daily dose of THCA when they add raw cannabis greens to the diet. These are some ways you can use raw cannabis leaves and buds:
- Juicing
- Smoothies
- Mixed salad dressings
- Raw salads
- Gentle steam greens
- Raw garnish
- Raw sauces

Where can I buy THCa?
Every strain of high-THC that has not been decarboxylated yet contains THCA. These cannabinoid levels in live plants are especially high. Raw cannabis parts are highly valued for their THCA properties. Our Hawaiian Express is high in THCa containing levels of almost 7%.
